Hanzi Customized collaboration with HanGuang Education Foundation

In the past years we have improved ourselves in developing boardgames. EmperorS4 has released more than 20 games, made a reputation for ourselves. However we are still little-known outside of the boardgame community. That’s why when HanGuang Education Foundation contacted us to develop a game associated with Sinology we were very honored and excited.

In reality, the combination of boardgame with education, learning and other fields have been proven in many places. To design a game that is both fun and education is more difficult designing a game purely for entertainment.

With the knowledge we had in the education system and the practical experience we had in the field, EmperorS4 and HanGuang released Hanzi, a family game suitable for players of all ages. Since the release in March 2017, Hanzi has been well received, many western partner show great interest in it.

While designing this game, we have consulted a large volume or articles and researches in Sinology. Through that we found out that we knew very little of how the written language we use everyday came to be. How the characters were first represented, how it evolved and came to be the way it is today, all inspired us to contemplate and relearn our language.

For the young generation living on this land, being able to identify and be proud out our past, our language and our culture is the first step of being a citizen of the global community. It is our pleasure to able to help promote Traditional Chinese, a written language that is used less and less, through boardgames.
